Derek Sakamoto is a former Senior UI Designer on the Team 5 Hearthstone development team. He is featured in the credits card of the same name.
During or before November 2022, Sakamoto left Blizzard and joined Moonshot Games.[1]

Career[edit | edit source]
In March 2015, Sakamoto had been at Blizzard for a little over 12 years.[2] His first job for the company was designing the UI (user interface) for World of Warcraft.[2] He worked on WoW for 6 years, from Vanilla through to Wrath of the Lich King.[2]

- Sakamoto is responsible for suggesting the ruby eye bonus feature for the Naxxramas battlefield.[3]
- Sakamoto is behind #FlavorTextThatMissedTheCut, a series of Twitter messages sharing humorous unused flavor text for bosses from the Curse of Naxxramas adventure.
