Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Its flavor text is a reference to the novel and musical The Phantom of the Opera.
  • Phantom Militia is a tribute to Tom60229, the winner of the 2017 Hearthstone World Championship, with the English pun being "Phantom Militia". The card's Chinese name (威靈民兵。) is pronounced similarly to Tom's, who also provided the Traditional Chinese voice acting for the card.[1]
    • Unlike  Fiery Bat and  Mok'Nathal Lion, which were directly based on Firebat and VKLiooon, Phantom Militia was fully designed before the tournament and was "backronymed" to fit Tom.
  • The card has the same statline and effectively the same ability as Half-dead Walrus, from the initial tests for The Witchwood.
