Notes

  • The archetypal resurrection effect, this spell will summon a random minion from all friendly minions that have died this game. This includes any minions which were 'friendly' when they died, included those taken control of by effects like  Mind Control and  Shadow Madness.[1][2]
  • Like all "death"-related effects, Resurrect only draws from minions that died while in the battlefield. Minions discarded from the hand or removed it from the deck will not be summoned. Technically, this is because Resurrect does not use the 'Graveyard Zone'. Minions which were transformed will also not be summoned since they did not technically 'die'.
  • The minion summoned by Resurrect is not removed from the pool of eligible minions. For example, if on turn 3 you play Injured Blademaster and he then dies, on turn 4 you can play two Resurrects and get two Injured Blademasters.
  • Because of the way this spell selects a minion to re-summon, Resurrect will be more likely to re-summon a friendly minion if multiple copies of it have died this game.[3][4] For example, if 2  War Golem, 1  Magma Rager and 1  Salty Dog were the friendly minions that had died that game, Resurrect would have a 50% chance of resurrecting a War Golem, and a 25% chance of resurrecting a Magma Rager or a Salty Dog.
  • If a player Resurrects a  Kel'Thuzad who died that turn, at the end of the turn Kel'Thuzad will resurrect his previous copy, resulting in 2 x Kel'Thuzads for the player.[5]
  • Cannot be played until a friendly minion has died this game.

Lore

Resurrect is based on Resurrection, a priest ability from World of Warcraft which allows the priest to resurrect a friendly player.
