Trivia section found wanding[edit source]

Can somebody please explain what does Fine. I'll wand. mean? I'm not much of a gamer, never played WoW nor DotA and I think wands have different meaning and uses in different games, so I'd rather not guess what that quote is about. -- Karol007 (talk) 14:49, 13 September 2015 (UTC)

I didn't play WoW that much, but in other MMOs and I'm assuming WoW as well, "wanding" is when a spell-casting/mage/magic class is just auto-attacking or "wanding" (because they are typically using a wand or staff as a weapon in fantasy games) an enemy to death. In the majority of games, casters do not do much damage with auto-attacks and should spend most of their time casting spells. This goes doubly for healers, like the Tournament Medic, who do not care about dealing damage at all. It references that he does very little damage (his 1 Attack) by attacking. --Beanchagbear (talk) 15:04, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
I can confirm from WoW this is correct. Wanding is now extinct in WoW, but in the old days it was a last resort option to deal very minimal damage, such as when the healer had run out of mana entirely (those were the days). Arguably the 1 Attack reflects the weakness of this approach. Other than that, I'm not sure the details are that relevant though, beyond the fact that wanding means "to attack or deal damage". -- Taohinton (talk) 20:00, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
