Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Webweave's flavor text is a reference to a famous line from Walter Scott's 1808 epic poem Marmion: "Oh, what a tangled web we weave / When first we practise to deceive!"
  • During development, Webweave was originally costed at 4 mana until near the end of final design.[1] According to Dean Ayala, the card was nerfed to 5 mana because "it was too generic use, powerful in almost any game situation, and too good at something Druids tend to lack".[2] In a worst-case scenario, the 4-mana Webweave often destroyed at least one minion, and it almost always destroyed two.[3] Webweave was not intended to be an extremely powerful card, which it might have been at 4 mana,[4] but rather to serve as an option for druids to "stretch for removal if they feel like they need it".[5]
