- Anima Golem was not offered for selection in Arena from Patch 6.1.1.14366[1] until Patch 15.4.0.34670. However, it was still obtainable in Arena matches through random effects, such as
Unstable Portal. - Anima Golem will consider mortally wounded/pending destroy minions to still be in play, up until the point where they actually die and are removed from play. For example, if you play a minion, Power Overwhelming on the minion, Anima Golem then end your turn, even though the Power Overwhelming buffed minion triggers and becomes pending destroy before Anima Golem would trigger, Anima Golem does not trigger and stays alive.[2]

Lore
Anima Golems are blood golems encountered during the fight with Dark Animus, the ninth boss in the Throne of Thunder. When they are destroyed, the fluid that animates them moves onto larger vessels, until it finally assembles into Dark Animus.
This section uses content from the Warcraft Wiki.- Blood golems, also known as anima golems, are mechanical creations of Archritualist Kelada, under the Thunder King's command, and were forged in the Throne of Thunder. The small golems serve the great Dark Animus. After its defeat, the blood elves acquired the Dark Animus' power source and began empowering blood golems of their own.
