Notes
- This card triggers only from playing minions from the hand. Summon and put into battlefield effects, such as those of Haunted Creeper, Imp-losion, Voidcaller and Reinforce, will not trigger it.[1]
- Hobgoblin's effect triggers prior to any Battlecries, and prior to any auras being applied to the minion.[2][3] For example, a Timber Wolf played with a Stormwind Champion on the board will gain Hobgoblin's +2/+2 buff, and then receive the Champion's +1/+1 aura buff on top of that.
- If there are multiple Hobgoblins on the board, the 1-Attack minion will get +2/+2 for each one.[4]

Lore
This section uses content from the Warcraft Wiki.
- Hobgoblins, also known to some goblins as brutes or oafs, are large semi-giants that guard the Isle of Kezan's cities, such as the Undermine. The Hobgoblins were once goblins altered by some foul alchemy becoming tough, powerful, and "dumber than an ogre with a hangover".
Trivia
- The artwork for this card comes from the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game "The Deadmines" series, for the card Lumbering Oaf.
- The card's play and attack voice lines are the chorus from the expansion's trailer.
