This card art depicts a Hearthstone's unique human version of Lord Alexei Barov.
This section uses content from the Warcraft Wiki.- Lord Alexei Barov was the lord of Caer Darrow, Brill, Tarren Mill and Southshore. He was the father of Alexi, Weldon, and
Jandice Barov and husband of Lady Illucia Barov.
Prior to Mists of Pandaria, he was an agent of the Scourge found in Scholomance - the corrupt lord of the region who made a deal with Headmaster Kel'Thuzad to establish the Scholomance Academy as a cover for the activities of the Cult of the Damned. Eventually, Kel'thuzad's forbidden necromantic research resulted in the transformation of most of the Academy, including the Barov family, into undead beings, as Kel'thuzad sought corpses to turn into recruits for The Scourge.
Unlike his wife, Alexei's spirit seems to repent the sorrow that his choice caused to Caer Darrow. In Mists of Pandaria, he first appears in the form of the Talking Skull, who asks adventurers to kill Darkmaster Gandling and cleanse the darkness that has taken hold of Scholomance. He reveals his true form upon Gandling's demise.
