Notes

To edit these notes, go to Template:Secret Passage notes.

  • Secret Passage takes your first hand to "another dimension", then puts 4 random cards from your deck into your hand (not drawn; you don't take fatigue and spells with Casts When Drawn don't trigger). At the end of your turn, your second hand is shuffled into your deck, then you get your first hand back. The original hand is not shuffled into the deck, just temporarily removed from the game.
    • Despite the wording "swap back next turn", you actually do get your original hand back at the end of your turn, as a normal priority end of turn triggered effect. However, subsequent Secret Passages played have their end of turn effects trigger backwards, with the last Secret Passage effect triggering first, and all other end of turn effects are ignored until all Secret Passages have been resolved. This means there is recursion going on behind the scenes when multiple Secret Passages are played, specifically stacking Secret Passages together so that they resolve together.
      • Example: A  Voracious Reader is on the board. Two Secret Passages are played, one after the other, with the player ending with one card. Voracious Reader's effect triggers, drawing two cards. Then the second Passage's end of turn effect triggers, followed by the first.
      • Example: A Voracious Reader is on the board. Secret Passage is played, and then a second Voracious Reader and a second Secret Passage is played from the new hand, with the player ending with one card. The first Reader triggers, drawing two cards, then the second Passage triggers, then the first Passage triggers, and finally the second Reader checks conditions for triggering (which almost always doesn't trigger unless final hand somehow has fewer than 3 cards).[1]
    • The original hand is added back in the order it was in, to the right-side of the hand that exists before a particular Secret Passage's end of turn effect.
  • Any cards added or generated to your hand after playing Secret Passage are kept in the hand at the end of the turn.
    • For example, playing Secret Passage will result in a final hand as follows from left to right:
      • Cards generated/added during the Passage, your original hand.
    • For example, playing Secret Passage and then a second Secret Passage will result in a final hand as follows from left to right:
      • Cards generated/added during second Passage, cards generated/added during first Passage, your original hand.
    • For example, playing Secret Passage and then  Mindrender Illucia and then a second Secret Passage will result in a final hand as follows from left to right:[2]
      • Cards generated/added during second Passage, the opponent's hand, cards generated/added during first Passage, your original hand. This hand will be given to the opponent at the start of your next turn.
  • Cards which have a "discard at end of turn" enchantment or disappear at end of turn will stay in the hand after Secret Passage is played.
    • For example, if  Evocation and then Secret Passage is played, the cards generated off of Evocation will now stay permanently in the player's hand.
    • For example,  Shadow Reflection will also stay in the hand.[3]
  • If your Galakrond hero card is in another dimension, it will receive Invoke upgrades played that turn.
  •  Flik Skyshiv will not destroy cards in the dimension of Secret Passage.[4]
