Lore[edit | edit source]

Warcraft Wiki icon.pngThis section uses content from the Warcraft Wiki.
Darion Mograine is the Highlord of the Knights of the Ebon Blade, an order of death knights which turned renegade after they were freed from the will of  The Lich King. The son of Alexandros Mograine, a former knight of the Argent Dawn, he came into possession of the Corrupted Ashbringer after his father was murdered by his brother Renault Mograine. Darion used it to kill himself and free his father's soul.
The Lich King then raised him to be the Highlord of Acherus: The Ebon Hold, once again wielding the corrupted  Ashbringer. He and his fellow death knights broke free from the Lich King's control in The Light of Dawn and spearheaded the attack against the Scourge alongside the Argent Crusade during the Northrend Campaign. Following  Bolvar Fordragon becoming the Jailer of the Damned, Darion continues to lead his knights in keeping all of Azeroth safe, helping the Alliance and Horde stop threats beyond the Scourge.

During the Burning Legion's third invasion, the Ebon Blade reluctantly attempted to retrieve the corpse of the late  Tirion Fordring from Light's Hope Chapel to raise him as the final member of the new Four Horsemen. The attack on the chapel failed, and Darion was killed. Under the orders the Lich King, the Ebon Blade's Deathlord raised Darion as the final Horseman.
