Lore

Warcraft Wiki icon.pngThis section uses content from the Warcraft Wiki.

The Ymirjar were the elite warrior caste created by King Ymiron in service of  The Lich King, the victorious vrykul in the battle of ascension at Jotunheim. They inhabit the city of Ymirheim in the center of Icecrown, which is of most significance to vrykul culture.

During the war against the Lich King, the vrykul fought each other in the pit of Valhalas; the winners of these combats became one of their Ymirjar, while the loser became a cursed vargul, an undead creature. Had King Ymiron blown the horns and called for all of the leaders of the Ymirjar and mjordin alike, the vrykul would've become a force more powerful than any other within the Scourge. This action would've organized the vrykul nation.

Following the war against the Jailer, the brothers Bronzebeard reported that the vrykul still challenge each other in Valhalas, but they’ve no death god to serve, at least. They also mentioned that the vrykul of Ymirheim are no ordinary tall and unpleasant people; as they’re the Ymirjar who won their battles in Valhalas.
