- Auchenai Soulpriest's ongoing effect modifies her controller's healing effects, i.e. all effects (spells, Hero Powers, triggered effects, Battlecries, Deathrattles) that restore Health (for a full list of such effects, see Healing) but does not modify effects which grant additional Health (such as Power Word: Shield, Twilight Drake and Young Priestess) or effects which directly set a target's Health (such as Alexstrasza and Equality).
- There used to be a bug with this card affecting Amara, Warden of Hope, causing it to deal 40 base damage to the controlling hero.[1] It was fixed in Patch 8.2.0.19506.[2]
- Healing effects modified by Auchenai Soulpriest will deal damage instead. In particular:
- Modified healing spells will be affected by Spell Damage bonuses. For example, if you control Auchenai Soulpriest and Azure Drake, casting Circle of Healing will deal 5 damage to all minions, while casting Holy Nova will deal 3 damage to all enemies and 3 damage to all friendly characters.
- As with all healing effects, this card will cause Queen of Pain and Wickerflame Burnbristle's triggered effects to deal damage instead of restoring Health to the controlling hero. However, since this damage is considered dealt by the minion, the effect will trigger again and again, until the controlling hero is killed.[3] More precisely, the infinite loop will stop once the hero has been in negative Health following three consecutive triggers or after 61 triggers, whichever happens first.[4][5] As of Patch 9.0.0.20457, Due to the new Lifesteal mechanic, the healing effects from minions only deals damage to the hero once rather than infinitely.
- Effects such as Reno Jackson and Tree of Life which heal characters to full Health, when combined with Auchenai Soulpriest will instead deal damage to affected characters equal to their maximum Health, usually killing them (however a character can still survive, for example due to Immune, Divine Shield, Commanding Shout, Animated Armor or if it has enough Armor).[6]
- For additional details, see Damage#Advanced rules and Healing#Advanced rules.
- Being an ongoing effect, Auchenai Soulpriest's aura is deactivated once it is killed.
- Example: If you have an Auchenai Soulpriest at 4 Health and a Zombie Chow and play Circle of Healing, both minions will be killed but, since by the time the Zombie Chow's Deathrattle activates Auchenai Soulpriest will already have been removed from the board, the Deathrattle will therefore heal the opponent rather than damaging them.
