Notes

To edit these notes, go to Template:Majordomo Executus notes.

This card's Deathrattle replaces the controlling hero with Ragnaros the Firelord, and changes their Hero Power to  DIE, INSECT!. The Ragnaros hero has a maximum and starting Health of 8, although this can be raised to 15 through  Alexstrasza, and 40 with  Amara, Warden of Hope.

  •  Baron Rivendare will cause Majordomo Executus' Deathrattle to activate twice, but this will not have any special consequence other than seeing the animation twice.[1]
  • As per the usual rules for golden cards, a golden Majordomo Executus will create a golden Ragnaros hero.[2]
Ragnaros hero
  • As a general rule, the transformation into the Ragnaros hero should behave the same as the transformation into the  Lord Jaraxxus hero.[3]
  •  Alexstrasza can be used upon the Ragnaros hero to alter its current and maximum Health to 15.[4] Following this, if the Ragnaros hero takes damage it will be possible to heal it back up to 15.[5]
  • Similarly, if  Amara, Warden of Hope is played as the Ragnaros hero, she will set the hero's current and maximum Health to 40.
  • If a player wins a game as the Ragnaros hero, they will still gain experience for whichever class they were playing when they started the game.[6][7]
  • Becoming Ragnaros will not destroy or remove any of the hero's current Secrets or weapons.[8][9] However it will remove any Armor, and Immune status from effects like  Ice Block.[10][11]
  • The Ragnaros hero is considered a boss for the purpose of class-related effects like  Nefarian and  Burgle.[12][13] Such effects therefore mostly generate copies of  The Coin, although Nefarian generates  Tail Swipe. However, this may be a bug.[14]
  • The behaviour of Discover effects as Ragnaros depends on the card used:[15]
    • If the card with the Discover effect is a neutral card, the game randomly picks 1 of the 11 classes and offers you cards as though you played the Discover card as that class.
    • If the card with the Discover effect is a class card, the game offers you cards as though you played the Discover card as that class.
  • Although the Ragnaros minion is an Elemental, the Ragnaros hero does not count as an Elemental.  Frost Lich Jaina's battlecry cannot give the Ragnaros hero Lifesteal, which means damage dealt by attacking an enemy or using hero power does not restore health to the hero.
DIE, INSECT! Hero Power
  • As usual, replacing your Hero Power will refresh it, allowing the new Hero Power to be used on that same turn if mana allows.
Example: A player that has used their Hero Power will be able, after being replaced by Ragnaros, to immediately use DIE, INSECT! in the same turn too.[16]

Lore

Warcraft Wiki icon.pngThis section uses content from the Warcraft Wiki.
At the top of the elemental hierarchy, just beneath Ragnaros himself, resides Majordomo Executus. This  Flamewaker gained his exalted status by proving to be nearly invincible in the battles that raged within the elemental plane. Rumor has it that Executus supplanted  Baron Geddon, and the two have been rivals ever since. Although this rumor has yet to be confirmed, there is certainly no doubt that Ragnaros does not tolerate failure. Thus, the lesser flamewakers (and, of course, Baron Geddon) eagerly await a misstep by Executus, anticipating their chance to vie for the coveted attention of the Firelord.
Executus will only be spawned after you have deactivated the runes of warding. This means you'll have to defeat every other boss (except for Ragnaros, who is summoned after Executus's defeat, and Lucifron, who actually doesn't have to be killed) in the Molten Core before you can fight him. Pre-3.0.8, you also had to douse the runes using Aqual Quintessence. You obtained the Aqual Quintessence by gaining Honored status with the Hydraxian Waterlords, and completing the quest chain ending with Hands of the Enemy.
Executus comes with four Flamewaker Healers and four Flamewaker Elite guards making this a total of a nine enemy encounter. Executus will "submit" and the fight is won when all the adds are dead. He then appears in Ragnaros' chamber and will summon the Firelord to begin the encounter. Ragnaros will then, before he engages the players, kill Executus as punishment for not being able to stop them.
In Cataclysm it is revealed that  Fandral Staghelm, after becoming the leader of the Druids of the Flame, replaced Executus as Ragnaros' majordomo.

Trivia

  • The artwork for this card comes from the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game "Molten Core Tokens 1" series, for the card Flamewaker.
  • Previously, if Majordomo Executus and the controlling hero were destroyed simultaneously, Blizzard intended that the player would not be saved by Executus' Deathrattle, and the game would end.[19] However, around 2016-08-13, when this situation occured, the game crashed.[20][21]. Since then, this bug has been fixed.
