Murloc Paladin is a Paladin deck type. It is a aggressive/midrange Deck that makes use of Murloc synergy to snowball the board from the start of the game. The plan of Murloc Paladin is to swarm the board with Murlocs and buff them up to make a strong, difficult-to-remove board, and push for the kill. If the game goes late and the opponent fended off the first wave, a second wave of murlocs overwhelm the board.

Many of the Paladin version of Murloc decks utilize cards that flood their board full of minions, such as  Tip the Scales and  Call to Arms.

Multiple version of Murloc Paladin existed through out standard year, using a standard murloc package combined with a few potent synergistic cards. Notable backbone cards throughout the years include  Vilefin Inquisitor,  Divine Favor,  Call to Arms,  Sunkeeper Tarim, and  Tip the Scales.

History[edit source]

Murloc Paladin first became an archetype in The League of Explorers. However, this version was a combo deck that used few murlocs, instead focusing on summoning  Bluegill Warrior,  Murloc Warleader, and  Old Murk-Eye throughout the game, then resurrecting them all with  Anyfin Can Happen twice for lethal. The rest of the deck was a control shell with plenty of stalling and card draw. The deck took a hit after Old Murk-Eye was moved to the Hall of Fame, but continued to exist in Standard until League of Explorers rotated out of Standard. The deck continued in Wild maintaining its identity as a combo deck while Murloc Paladin became an Aggro deck. For more information, see Anyfin Paladin.

The aggressive deck received its first support in Whispers of the Old Gods with  Vilefin Inquisitor, but didn't become a major force until Journey to Un'Goro. New cards like  Lost in the Jungle,  Rockpool Hunter, and  Vinecleaver gave the deck a heavy backbone, and  Gentle Megasaur and  Sunkeeper Tarim allowed for powerful finishers. This version became one of the most powerful decks of its meta, and stayed in play until 2019 (although it lost a lot of popularity to Odd Paladin and Even Paladin).

In Saviors of Uldum, a new version emerged that used  Tip the Scales to flood the board, cheating it out early with  Prismatic Lens. The deck also made use of  Zephrys the Great and  Chef Nomi, taking advantage of how fast the archetype could empty its deck out.

Murloc Paladin from Ashes of Outland uses a variety of board-wide buffs and value generation to dominate the game.  Imprisoned Sungill spawns multiple murlocs to make  Felfin Navigator and  Scalelord's Battlecries much more powerful, while  Underlight Angling Rod and  Fishflinger grants extra value while maintaining tempo. Other high-quality early game cards like  Hand of A'dal and  Murgur Murgurgle add to their already strong early game.
